NordicTrack Elite 7.5 Elliptical Review + Alternatives

The NordicTrack Elite 7.5 elliptical trainer is equal parts affordable and functional. It is a simple yet efficient elliptical trainer with a ton of perks. At under $800, the austere trainer is easily NordicTrack’s lower-priced, front-drive elliptical machine. By merging affordability with functionality, the E 7.5 is miles ahead of its peers within this price-point. This trainer is part of NordicTrack’s quintessential elliptical lineup, the Elite Elliptical series, which is also made up of the E 12.7 and E 10.9 elliptical trainers. While it is the entry-level model in this series, there is nothing “entry-level” about it ─ if we compare its features against other income-level ellipticals on the market.

Generally, it is perfect for novice trainees and anyone looking to get a decent amount of workout from the comfort of their home. Exercisers benefit from useful performance utilities, including a 0-20 degrees adjustable incline ramp with five ramp adjustment settings. This is the same range as the superior models in the series; the E 12.7 and the E 10.9 ellipticals. And hardly will you find a low-cost elliptical trainer with extensive incline settings like this. Workout programs are not scarce on this model, with about 20 pre-loaded programs to choose from. The optional iFit membership subscription app further boosts this. Its resistance and drive mechanism is pretty decent, too; you get 20 magnetic resistance levels, anchored by a 15-pound flywheel.

While this is nowhere near the upper-end elite models’ multi-resistance levels, it is quite effective. Its flywheel is also on the lighter side, which may not sit well with fitness enthusiasts. Sitting at the top of the machine is a standard 5-inch backlit console, which is anything but “basic.” Nonetheless, you get the essential functions expected of any monitor, such as performance tracking and wireless heart rate monitoring (Though a chest strap device is not included). The monitor also integrates a tablet holder for you and your mobile device’s comfort. The E 7.5 is not short of extras; a water bottle holder and an auxiliary audio port are featured on the exercise machine. Perhaps, you are unsure whether to buy or not buy this elliptical; our detailed NordicTrack Elite 7.5 elliptical review will help you make a wise decision!

NORDICTRACK ELITE 7.5 ELLIPTICAL REVIEW:

NORDICTRACK ELITE 7.5 SPECS

Nothing compares to a reliable elliptical trainer that won’t give way after a couple of uses. On this note, we are impressed with the E 7.5’s commercial-gauge solid steel construction. We know its build quality isn’t the best out there, but it meets and exceeds expectations for the price. Weighing close to 205Ibs, it is quite heavy. The weight shows it is made out of tough “stuff.” Its frame is a product of thick, steel tubing. All its steel elements are coated with anti-scratch and anti-corrosion paint, giving little room for rust infiltration and wear and tear. Most of the machine’s parts are covered in steel, with the only PVC parts being the covers of the flywheel, pedals, arms, and pulley system. With such a reliable and meticulous construction, it comes as no surprise that the elliptical can support a 300-pound maximum weight capacity.

Granted, the machine is a bag of weight, but it shouldn’t pose a mobility problem, not with the integrated porting wheels on the elliptical’s front stabilizers. Be that as it may, some people, especially those who can’t lift or move heavy objects, will need an extra pair of hands to move the machine. The E 7.5’s footprint is one specification you need to consider when buying the elliptical. There is no other way to say it, but the elliptical needs ample space to stay. It is 67.7 inches high, 25 inches wide, and 68.4 inches long, to be exact. And sadly, its frame is not foldable. So if you have a space problem, you may need to check out other elliptical machines with a minimal footprint or foldable design.

The E 7.5 elliptical trainer runs off a 15-pound flywheel. It is no secret that heavier flywheels produce the best and smoothest pedaling momentum. With 20pounds and above being the gold standard for elliptical flywheels, we could say that the E 7.5 elliptical trainer falls short of expectations. However, its motion, while not ultra-smooth, will not throw you off-balance. It is, in fact, a pretty stable exercise machine. You may be wondering what the E 7.5’s mode of operation is. To satisfy your curiosity, the machine is far from cordless. It comes with a power chord that needs an external, 120-volt nominal outlet to work. And this power outlet must be “grounded” to minimize the incidence of “shock” when the machine encounters a glitch.

NORDICTRACK E 7.5 TRAINER MONITOR

The E 7.5 elliptical machine comes with a multi-functional 5-inch monitor. If you are not a sucker for smart and flashy consoles with touchscreens, the E 7.5’s backlit display will meet your satisfaction. The monitor is super easy to use and navigate, with well-defined control buttons for several functions, including resistance and incline. By pressing or clicking the said buttons, you can easily navigate the numerous workout programs, adjust your incline settings, and alter your resistance intensity.

Every trainee deserves to gauge their performance rate, and thankfully, modern exercise machines make this option/statistics available. The E 7.5 elliptical machine is not an exception. When working out on the machine, you can see your performance statistics first hand. The monitor supplies workout information, including calories per hour, pace, distance (MI or KM), pulse (BPM), resistance, speed (MPH or KPH), time, and Pedaling speed (RPM). Another must-mention feature of the E 7.5’s console is its compatibility with a wireless chest strap device. With a Bluetooth Smart heart rate monitor, you can measure your heart rate.

Guided exercises are often the best and most productive, and we are pleased to find this option on the E 7.5 elliptical. The elite elliptical offers tons of workout programs to motivate and propel you towards your goals. That said, about 24 workout programs are made available. At least 12 of these programs are geared towards performance enhancement, while the remainder addresses calorie burn. For added workout variety, the E 7.5 is also iFit enabled. You get access to one-on-one personal training with certified fitness trainers from across the globe for a yearly or monthly subscription fee. The app’s Google Map will take you through the streets of Paris, the Arabian deserts, and a host of other breathtakingly beautiful places ─while you burn calories and tone your muscles. Plus, you also get a bespoke nutrition and sleep plan to aid your workout and performance results. But of course, you can choose to bypass iFit, if your wallet cannot accommodate its subscription fee.

NORDICTRACK 7.5 STRIDE AND INCLINE

An elliptical stride, incline, and resistance system are some of its most essential features. It is also of vital importance to your workout as it technically determines the efficacy of your performance. Typically, a good elliptical machine has an extensive stride and a broad incline and resistance range. And as far as good elliptical machines go, the E 7.5 elliptical is sitting on this list. The E 7.5 elliptical machine offers a motorized 0-20 degrees incline range while its elliptical path adjusts from 17-19 inches.

Its incline and stride system work hand in hand. When the slope is at its lowest, the stride extends to its most extended length, and if you increase the incline, the stride automatically shortens. This is to say that the incline prompts the operation of the elliptical path. However, the incline does not automatically change, so you have to adjust its settings when desired manually. The incline is adjusted by pressing a latch button and then lowering or raising the ramp handle to the desired level.

The E 7.5’s resistance settings are also noteworthy. It operates a Silent Magnetic Resistance (SRM) System, which is near-silent and easy to maintain. This is especially beneficial if you plan to use the elliptical in a residential setting. Ellipticals that use magnetic resistance are often quieter than those that use air resistance. The E 7.5 offers 20 resistance levels whose intensity can be adjusted from the console. Its resistance levels may be child’s pay for serious athletes, but for trainees looking to grow, it is just perfect!

ELITE 7.5 HANDLEBAR AND PEDALS

The E 7.5 elliptical machine makes for comprehensive upper and lower body training thanks to its soft upper body grips and oversized pedals. Its mobile arms are well-cushioned and comfortable on the palm, so you can exercise seamlessly without sore hands getting in the way. They also provide a firm grip, which counteracts sweaty palms.

Heart rate monitoring is made easy with the pulse grip sensors on the handles. So if you can’t afford a chest strap or don’t desire one, you can rely on the integrated CardioGrip sensors for your heart rate data. However, fitness experts often recommend a chest strap monitor for heart rate data as they tend to provide more accurate results.

Located on the bottom of the elliptical machine are large, cushioned pedals with slip-resistant properties. While the pedals are promised to accommodate different shoe and foot sizes, adjustability settings would have been an excellent addition.

E 7.5 ACCESSORIES AND ASSEMBLY

Indeed, elliptical accessories are simply dispensable extras, but their existence can boost user experience to no small degree. And this is why we appreciate their presence on the E 7.5 elliptical trainer. The unit provides users with several handy fixtures that lengthens and animates workout sessions. For starters, the E 7.5’s console unit houses a good portion of the said accessories. It possesses a dock for tablets and smartphones, so users can secure their devices and conveniently use them when exercising. A built-in sound system consisting of an audio jack and speakers provides audio entertainment at its best.

The auxiliary music port is compatible with a wide range of MP3 players and iPods. A multi-power AutoBreeze workout fan provides sufficient airflow to keep exercisers cool and fresh─ when the going gets tough or when the weather is at its hottest. So you don’t need to make arrangements for a standing fan or air conditioner when you workout. A water bottle holder is attached to the machine at a convenient location, so you can quickly grab a drink mid-stride when the need arises. While NordicTrack includes a chest strap for the other two elite modes, the E 7.5 is exempted. Hence, users who fancy a chest strap device are left with no choice but to buy.

Setting up the E 7.5 elliptical trainer for use takes more than one person. Evidently, it is too heavy for one person to handle, except you are up to the task. The process itself is quite tasking but not challenging. All parts come pre-lubed and are appropriately labeled to ease the process. A hard copy assembly manual with detailed instructions and illustrations is also provided. So you only need to follow the manual and your E 7.5 elliptical will be up and running in good time. Assembly may take about two hours on average. To assemble the elliptical, you need to attach the following parts to the machine; front and rear stabilizers, right roller arms, right and left upper body legs, right and left pedal arms and the axle, rear and front console covers, right and left upper body arms, accessory tray, tablet holder and the shield covers. Now that’s a lot to be assembled! While some tools are included for the assembly, you will also need a Phillips screwdriver, two adjustable wrenches, and a rubber mallet.

WARRANTY, PRICE, AND SHIPPING

A standard warranty often supports NordicTrack ellipticals; the E 7.5 elliptical is no different. The trainer’s frame has a 10-year warranty, and its parts are covered for two years while labor is assigned a year. While the frame’s warranty is excellent, the warranty on parts and labor is limited, to say the least. But we are optimistic the machine will leave up to its commercial-grade quality. In the meantime, you should take maintenance seriously. Regular maintenance will undoubtedly elongate the machine’s shelf life, saving you some pretty penny when your warranty expires. You are also expected to register the product warranty as soon as you can.

Registering the warranty has its benefits; it activates the warranty, saves you time when you contact the company’s customer support department in the future, and gives you access to regular notifications, offers, and updates from the company. And to think that registration is super easy, all you need to do is fill the warranty registration card that comes with the product and return it to the company’s address (as stated on the card). Online warranty registration is also available on the company’s website. If you want to make inquiries regarding the warranty or file complaints, NordicTrack’s customer support department will address your concerns. That said, you can call them on 1 -800-862-3348. Alternatively, you can send an email to “fitnessclub@nordictrack.com”.

No questions asked the E 7.5 is the most cost-effective elliptical among the NordicTrack’s Elite Elliptical Series. Sold at about $699 or thereabout, the value it offers for the price is unbelievable. Shipping duration and cost largely depends on the vendor or fitness outlet you are buying from. If you buy from the company’s website, you may get a shipping discount or even a no-charge offer. Online sites like Amazon sometimes offer free shipping too or discounts. With NordicTrack, the product is shipped within 10-15 business days. As to how long before it gets to you, that will depend on your local delivery center. The company also offers in-home/white-glove assembly in addition to threshold delivery. This comes at an extra cost, though, plus it is currently suspended due to the ongoing pandemic.

COMPARABLE ELLIPTICAL MACHINES

When considering comparable elliptical machines to the NordicTrack Elite 7.7, two options stand out from the same series: the NordicTrack Elite 12.7 Elliptical Trainer and the NordicTrack Elite 10.9 Elliptical. Let’s explore their features and discuss which product might be best for certain uses or circumstances.

The NordicTrack Elite 12.7 Elliptical Trainer is the best alternative if you prefer a 7″ HD touch screen over a 5″ basic backlit console. One key feature is the adjustable stride length, allowing you to customize the elliptical motion to your comfort and workout preference. Additionally, the in-handle controls provide convenient access to adjust settings without interrupting your workout. With a substantial 32 lb flywheel which is twice the size of Nordictrack 7.7 Elite’s 15 lb flywheel, this elliptical is delivers a smooth and consistent pedaling experience. The power incline ramp further enhances your training by allowing you to simulate uphill or downhill movements, targeting different muscle groups. Lastly, the upper body grips enable a total-body workout, engaging your arms and core along with your lower body.

On the other hand, the NordicTrack Elite 10.9 Elliptical is the best mid-range choice that offers a different set of features, focusing on interactive personal training and technological capabilities. With an included 1-month individual membership to iFit, you gain access to live, studio, and global workouts that can be streamed directly to the equipment’s immersive 7-inch interactive HD touchscreen. The iFit platform provides a vast array of workouts led by professional trainers who guide and adjust the elliptical settings to maximize your training. This elliptical also offers 24 digital resistance levels which is 4 level more than the Elite 7.7, an adjustable power ramp for incline training, and adjustable stride to accommodate multiple users. The 20-pound inertia-enhanced flywheel ensures a smooth and fluid pedaling motion, while the soft-touch upper body grips provide a comprehensive full-body workout. With a weight capacity of 350 pounds, this elliptical is suitable for a wide range of users.

Choosing the best option depends on your budget. If you prioritize heavy flywheel, versatility, extra resistance levels, and physical adjustments, such as adjustable stride length and power incline ramp, the NordicTrack Elite 12.7 Elliptical Trainer would be a great choice. It offers flexibility in tailoring the elliptical motion to your liking and targeting different muscle groups.

However, if you want to invest less and don’t mind the lack of pedal adjustment, or resistance controls on all the stationary and moving handgrips, the value NordicTrack Elite 10.9 Elliptical shines. With its iFit membership, HD touchscreen, and the ability to stream a variety of workouts, this elliptical provides a truly immersive and motivating training experience.

A good value elliptical!

Given its price, the NordicTrack Elite 7.5 elliptical is a surprisingly efficient exercise machine. Few elliptical trainers within this price point can beat its quality. It is the ideal elliptical machine for beginners and intermediate trainees. It has an impressive incline and resistance range that is sure to get these users excited. NordicTrack was also generous with its workout programming, offering plenty to tone and build the muscles with enough motivation and inspiration. They also included their famous iFit coach app to augment the existing workout programs. Wireless and digital contact heart rate monitoring is also part of the benefits you get with the E 7.5 elliptical trainer. Although you have to pay for an iFit subscription and buy a wireless chest strap separately, it is still cost-effective. It’s an incredible value for money! Its commercial-quality construction is also worth commendation; even heavy-weight exercisers can use this elliptical without issues.
